Thanks to grants and community support, one of the City’s older Parks and Recreation facilities is getting several new amenities, one of which is officially opening to the public this week.

The perimeter sidewalk of Joe Henry Optimist Center Park, 1793 S. 1st Avenue, has been transformed into a life-size version of the classic board game Candy Land. The City invites residents to see it in action during a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 7 at the park.

A key tool for planning your family’s spring and summer is now available. The City of Yuma Parks and Recreation’s Spring/Summer Activities Guide is ready for pickup or to download and view online.

City residents may begin registering for the activities listed in the new guide March 20; those living outside city limits or those who prefer to register online may begin registration March 27.

Yuma Parks and Recreation and the Sports Turf Managers Association of Arizona invite you to this year’s Sports Turf, Tree & Landscape Expo, 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Yuma Civic Center, 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive. For the low registration fee of $10, participants receive instruction, news and knowledge from industry leaders.
