Fire Fighter Cadet Recruitment

Firefighter Cadet Open Recruitment, September 15-20. Normally EMT and Firefighter Certifications are required to apply for the Yuma Fire Department, but for this short time only the following are required:

*A high school diploma or a GED

*A valid Driver's License and a good driving record

*Be at least 18 years of age

Fire Sprinkler Save

On Thursday September 14, 2017, at approximately 1:00 pm an alarm was reported indicating a fire sprinkler activation in an apartment at the Palo Verde Villa Apartments, 485 South 15th Avenue. Yuma Fire Department personnel arrived and made entry into the 2nd story apartment, finding extreme heat built up inside. Further investigation determined a stove top and oven had been left on for an extended time and the extreme heat (in excess of 155 degrees) had triggered a sprinkler head nearest the stove.

9-11 Recognitions

Since the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks on 9/11/2001, a special tribute has been made to the Firefighters who died that day. At Yuma Fire Department Station #2, 3284 S. Avenue A, 343 flags are placed on the lawn along Avenue A. One flag for each of the 343 Firefighters that gave their lives in the collapse of the towers of the World Trade Center while attempting to rescue those injured and trapped in the initial attacks.
