On Friday October 16, 2015 shortly before 9:00 a.m. at house fire was reported at 825 West 20th St. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found the interior of the home with smoke in it. The source of the smoke was found to be a fire in an attached utility room. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before it could spread.READ MORE
On Thursday October 15, 2015 at approximately 12:15 a.m. reports of a strong smell of ammonia began to be received in an area along Avenue 2-1/2E and north from Palo Verde Street, to include a report of ammonia possibly leaking from a railroad car (which was confirmed to not be leaking). Yuma Fire Department personnel were able to locate and confirm the source of the smell was an ammonia leak at True Leaf Farms, 2955 South Avenue 2-1/2 E.
We would like to get the message out that parents need talk about fire safety with their children. There is no reason for children to have matches or lighters in their possession, or access to them in their home. Curiosity about fire is normal, so it is all that much more important to teach your children fire is a serious thing, and not a toy.READ MORE
