On Monday October 26, 2015, shortly after 1:00 p.m. a fire was reported at 1803 West 30th Street. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found a cooking fire had spread through the kitchen. Firefighters quickly knocked down the fire in the kitchen but found it had already spread into the home’s attic. Firefighters made access to the attic spaces and extinguished the fire.

From Sunday October 11, 2015 through Saturday October 17, 2015, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 254 emergency calls for service.

On Friday October 16, 2015 shortly before 9:00 a.m. at house fire was reported at 825 West 20th St. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found the interior of the home with smoke in it. The source of the smoke was found to be a fire in an attached utility room. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before it could spread.

On Thursday October 15, 2015 at approximately 12:15 a.m. reports of a strong smell of ammonia began to be received in an area along Avenue 2-1/2E and north from Palo Verde Street, to include a report of ammonia possibly leaking from a railroad car (which was confirmed to not be leaking). Yuma Fire Department personnel were able to locate and confirm the source of the smell was an ammonia leak at True Leaf Farms, 2955 South Avenue 2-1/2 E.
