The Yuma Police Department has completed the first of many Mental Health First Aid classes, geared toward Public Safety personnel, to be taught to officers and civilian staff. Mental Health First Aid is an 8-hour course that gives staff members skills to help someone who is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.

The Yuma Police Department is now accepting applications for its Procedural Justice Workshop. This workshop will provide an opportunity for local law enforcement and local community members to come together and interact while learning about the application of Procedural Justice. Skilled facilitators will work to create a mutual learning environment that will embrace open discussion between law enforcement and residents, building the foundation for mutual trust.
