Smoke Alarm Donation

On Saturday December 5, 2015, Yuma’s Home Depot store presented the Yuma Fire Department with 250 smoke alarms valued at $2,500. The alarms were donated by Home Depot and the Kidde Company (makers of the alarms), and will allow YFD personnel to help increase the fire safety of Yuma citizens in need.

From Sunday November 29, 2015 through Saturday December 5, 2015, the Yuma Fire Department responded to 279 emergency calls for service.

On Thursday December 10, 2015 just before 5:30 pm, a fire was reported at 4198 West 21st Place. Yuma Fire Department personnel arrived to find the fire had started on the stove top but was now out. Firefighters confirmed there was no further fire and evaluated two occupants for exposure to smoke.

Fire Outside of Home

On Tuesday December 8, 2015 just after 3:30 pm, Yuma Fire Department personnel at Fire Station #1, 353 South 3rd Avenue, noticed heavy smoke coming from the area of 2nd Avenue and 4th Street. They responded to that area to find several trees and bushes on fire in front of 389 South 2nd Avenue endangering the residence. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze before it was able to extend into the home.
