Apartment Fire

On Monday October 9, 2017, just before 10:00 pm, a fire was reported in an apartment at 1700 South Crowder Avenue. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found smoke and flames coming from apartment #3. The occupants had safely evacuated and apartments on either side of where the fire was burning were also evacuated. The fire originated in the laundry area wall, spreading to the attic and flames were showing through the roof. Firefighters quickly contained and extinguished the fire.

Yard Fire

October 8th through the 14th is National Fire Prevention Week. At 6:00 pm Tuesday October 10th, a short ceremony will be held at Yuma City Hall in the Council Chambers. A proclamation will be read regarding Fire Prevention Week in the City of Yuma. In addition, the Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Captain, and Support Person of the Year from the City of Yuma Fire Department will be recognized. YFD will also be presenting badges for various rank advancements that have recently occurred and recognizing other outstanding achievements.
