Yumans invited to national softball tournament

The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) 2015 National Men’s 16-inch Championship Tournament will be held Friday through Sunday at Kennedy Athletic Complex, located on Kennedy Lane north of 24th Street in Yuma.

Yuma, Ariz. – Yuma is hosting a national softball tournament this weekend, and invites visitors to come check out the fun.

 

The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) 2015 National Men’s 16-inch Championship Tournament will be held Friday through Sunday at Kennedy Athletic Complex, located on Kennedy Lane north of 24th Street in Yuma. Games get under way at 7 p.m. Friday, then 8 a.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. The championship game will most likely begin at 8 p.m. Sunday.

 

Visitors are invited. Entry fee is $1 per person; children 12 and under are free. Attendees may bring in bottled water, unopened; however, no other outside beverages are allowed. All bags and coolers will be checked.

 

“This is our fourth time hosting a national tournament, and the last two times, we won the ASA James Farrell Award of Excellence,” said Yuma Parks and Recreation Director Debbie Wendt. “We’re very proud of the job our staff does putting on these events, and thankful for our sponsors.”

 

Title sponsors for this weekend’s tournament include Bill Alexander’s Flightline Mazada and Mitsubishi, Romer Beverage of Yuma, and Burgers and Beer.
