Time to 'Come Out and Play': Free family event returns to Valley Aquatic Center, Sunrise Optimist Park

Yuma Parks and Recreation and the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Yuma are once again teaming up to host "Day For Kids - Come Out and Play" at the Valley Aquatic Center, 4381 W. 18th St., and adjacent Sunrise Optimist Park from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

Yuma, Ariz. – One of the biggest opportunities of the year for residents to try out much of what Yuma Parks and Recreation has to offer is this Saturday.

Yuma Parks and Recreation and the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Yuma are once again teaming up to host "Day For Kids - Come Out and Play" at the Valley Aquatic Center, 4381 W. 18th St., and adjacent Sunrise Optimist Park from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

The event is free for the entire family and offers sports, games, activities, contests, races, swimming, and Yuma's largest "Slip-n-Slide." 

There will be water games, splash contests, relays, the Imagination Playground in a Box, and lots of prizes will be given away. Local service and youth sports organizations will be on hand to pass out information in Sunrise Optimist Park next to the pools.

The event has later starting and ending times this year, said Parks and Recreation Director Debbie Wendt. Repeating attendees are asked to take note of the new hours.
