New events, old favorites highlight festivals lineup; businesses invited to participate

With the release of the 2018-2019 City of Yuma Heritage Festivals lineup of downtown events, local businesses are invited to participate as a presenting partner at one or more of the coming season’s events.

Fun, food, and festivities such as live entertainment and exhibits are just a few of the things attendees have come to expect at a City of Yuma Heritage Festivals event. Each year more than 250,000 people visit Yuma to experience the sights, sounds, tastes and heritage of Yuma’s unique and historic downtown.

This year’s festival lineup features eight events, including old favorites and one new festival.

  • Trick or Treat on Main Street, Oct. 31, 2018
  • Christmas Lighting on Main Street, Dec. 1, 2018
  • Medjool Date Festival, Jan. 26, 2019
  • Boogie, Brews and Blues Festival, Feb. 16, 2019
  • BBQ and Brew Festival (new), Feb. 22-23, 2019
  • Music on Main Street, March 16, 2019
  • Cinco de Mayo Celebration, May 4, 2019
  • Celebrate the Heat on Yuma’s Main Street, September 7, 2019

City of Yuma Heritage Festivals’ mission is to celebrate Yuma past and present by hosting festivals, concerts, farmers markets and activities for all ages in Historic Downtown Main Street.

“Events such as these would not be possible without local community support,” said City of Yuma Marketing Specialist Carrie Ring.

However, participating businesses may enjoy a mutual benefit, too, Ring notes. “Heritage Festivals give a company’s message a platform to deliver and connect with attendees. Statista reports that 79 percent of marketers in the United States use events to drive sales.”

Businesses that offer a service in line with the theme of an individual event are especially encouraged to discuss possible partnerships, Ring said.

Vendor and sponsorship opportunities are available. Visit the Heritage Festivals page of the City of Yuma website to download a sponsorship packet.

For more information, send email or contact Perlita Wicks, Heritage Festivals Coordinator at (928) 373-5028, or Carrie Ring, Marketing Specialist, at (928) 373-5020.

“If you have any ideas or suggestions that you would like to discuss please do not hesitate to call,” Ring said. “We would be happy to give you detailed information of how we benefit our partners and help to promote your message.”
