Yuma, Ariz. The City and its partners are now seeking qualifying homes to be painted during the 2015 Rock & Roll Paint-A-Thon, the City's annual National Make A Difference Day project.

The Paint-A-Thon is a volunteer-fueled effort to brighten the homes of qualifying low-income elderly and disabled individuals in the Yuma area.

“This is a program to paint the exterior of homes for seniors over 60, disabled, or veteran homeowners who are low-income,” explained Marisela Valle-Erlenbach, Senior Neighborhood Service Specialist with the City of Yuma. “We are collecting applications and submitting for committee review. There is no cost to the homeowner.”

Homeowners who believe they may qualify are encouraged to contact Valle-Erlenbach at (928) 373-5187 or e-mail Marisela.Valle-Erlenbach@yumaaz.gov. Family members are encouraged to share this information with elderly relatives who may fit these criteria.

Teams of volunteers will prepare the qualifying homes this coming Oct. 17, then will return to paint Oct. 24. Those already interested in gathering a team of volunteers for this year's Paint-A-Thon may also contact the City.

The City of Yuma Neighborhood Services Division, Yuma County, Western Arizona Council of Governments (WACOG), Hospice Compassus, Wells Fargo, and Rebuilding Together (Valley of the Sun chapter) sponsor the Rock & Roll Paint-A-Thon.
