Community paint day for playground is Saturday

Volunteers needed to decorate tiles, paint roof shingles

Yuma, Ariz. – The next opportunity for volunteers to help rebuild the beloved Creative Playgound comes Saturday, when the first of three “community paint days” takes place 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City of Yuma’s West Wetlands Park, 282 N. 12th Ave.

City of Yuma residents of all ages are invited to participate. Children will be able to decorate ceramic tiles with creative designs that will adorn the perimeter fence along the playground. Adults will apply three coats of paint to the castle’s roof shingles.

The City will provide the supplies and tents under which volunteers can paint. Some food be available as well.

This will be the first community paint day, with another scheduled for Nov. 14. If necessary, a third date may be scheduled for early December.

Donations are still being sought for the “bigger, better, safer” additions to the reconstructed playground.
