Galleries to be in Yuma Art Center (254 S. Main Street) through October 14, 2017.
Yuma, Ariz. – The City of Yuma invites residents to an opening reception for three new art gallery exhibits to be featured in the Yuma Art Center through October. The reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 25, and is open to the public.
The new gallery exhibits include:
- "El Ojo de la Noche" by Kathryn Maxwell, a professor at Arizona State University. Maxwell's work is known to reflect interest in genetics and the connectivity of humans to the universe.
- "Memories" by Patrick Downing, Antonio Pasoz and Arlene Towne. This gallery includes a variety of artwork, from etchings on copper and zinc to acrylic paintings on canvas.
- "Inspiraciones" by Grupo Matices, which is a 14-artist group from San Luis Rio Colorado, just south of the border. Their collaborative artwork exemplifies the rich history of cross-cultural collaboration in the binational region. Their work embodies a bright, colorful and modern style.
The artists whose work will be featured in the Yuma Art Center's galleries are slated to be in attendance at Friday's opening reception.
The three gallery exhibits will be in place until Oct. 14, and are available for viewing during the Yuma Art Center's regular hours of operation.
The Yuma Art Center rotates galleries every few months. In the next few months, the art center will feature additional annual exhibits and events such as the Children's Festival of the Arts, Tribute of the Muses and more.
