The City Clerk’s Office is responsible for processing applications for Liquor Licenses, Special Event Liquor Licenses, Bingo licenses and Off-Track Betting (OTB) licenses.   Such licenses require the approval of the Yuma City Council.  City business licenses are handled separately by the Finance Department.

Liquor Licenses

Any person intending to manufacture, sell or deal in spirituous liquor in the state of Arizona must apply for a spirituous liquor license.   A Special Event Liquor License is a temporary permit which allows a charitable, civic, fraternal, political or religious organization to sell and serve spirituous liquor. Consumption is allowed only on the premises where the spirituous liquor is sold, and only for the period authorized on the license.   Applications for both licenses may be obtained from the Arizona Department of Liquor Licenses and Control (www.azliquor.gov). However, before the license is fully valid, Yuma City Council approval is required.

Bingo Licenses

Bingo is legal in the State of Arizona for recreational purposes or to allow certain types of non-profit organizations to generate funds to support their activities. An application for a license may be obtained from the Arizona Department of Revenue (www.azdor.gov). However, before the license is fully valid Yuma City Council approval is required.

Off-Track Betting Licenses

Off-Track Betting (OTB) or pari-mutuel horse and greyhound racing is available in the State of Arizona.  The Arizona Department of Racing regulates OTB.  An application for a license may be obtained from the Arizona Department of Racing (www.azracing.gov).  However, before the license is fully valid Yuma City Council approval is required.

For further information on processing and scheduling licenses for Yuma City Council approval, please contact the City Clerk’s Office.
