Just as technology is always on the move, so is the staff behind the scenes with the Department of Information Technology Services (ITS). Not only does ITS oversee and manage the voice, video and data communication systems for the city, they also have their hand in joint projects with other local and state agencies and private partnerships to best serve the needs of the city.

ITS areas of operation include:  Administration, Help Desk Services, Computer Training, Business Applications, Computer Hardware and Software management, Network Engineering and Administration, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Telecommunications and Web Administration and Development.

ITS began organizing the direction of the city’s technology more than ten years ago through the development of several technology Strategic Plans. The Plans serve as a guideline to ITS and address specific city operations. The Plans are adjusted as needed and have been very instrumental to the success of city technology systems.

The Plans currently include:

  • Enterprise Technology Strategic Plan
  • Enterprise Telecommunication Strategic Plan
  • Public Safety Technology Plan
  • Enterprise Geographic Information System (GIS) Strategic Plan
  • Annual ITS Departmental Work Plans

The staff of ITS are highly trained professionals who possess the technical expertise needed to support the technology systems of the city. City staff and its Administration look to ITS to ensure a high quality delivery of service and to guide and protect city technology investments.
