Accounting

The Accounting Division manages the accounts payable, accounts receivable, grant reporting, payroll, and treasury functions of the City of Yuma. In addition, Accounting coordinates the annual audit and produces the City of Yuma’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

For the 26th consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) of the United States and Canada has awarded the City a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). In order to be awarded a Certificate of Achievement, a government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized CAFR, which must satisfy both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and applicable legal requirements. This Certificate of Achievement is rewarded on a yearly basis. We believe that our current comprehensive annual financial report continues to meet the Certificate of Achievement Program’s requirements. The Accounting and Administrative Divisions accomplished our goal to produce the 2007 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by August 31, 2007.
